Amy Kotzmacher
Wayzata Softball Head Coach
Amy Kotzmacher is a dedicated and experienced softball coach with over 15 years of coaching across multiple levels, including eight years at the varsity level. She currently serves as part of the Wayzata Varsity Softball program and brings a wealth of knowledge shaped by years of leadership and competitive play.
Before joining Wayzata, Amy spent five years coaching at Hill-Murray, where she helped develop athletes both on and off the field. Her playing career includes an impressive collegiate chapter at North Dakota State University, where she was part of the team that captured the Division II National Championship in 2000.
Amy’s coaching philosophy centers around the belief that “Pressure is privilege”—a mindset that encourages players to embrace challenges with gratitude and confidence, recognizing every opportunity to compete as a gift. Beyond her high school coaching role, she also leads a Midwest Speed 16U National club softball team, continuing her commitment to developing young athletes at an elite level.
Outside the diamond, Amy has been happily married to her husband, Steve, for 21 years. They share three children whose achievements reflect their family’s deep connection to the sport: Tyler, a junior at St. Thomas University; Kendall, a freshman playing Division I softball at Western Michigan University; and Teagan, a junior at White Bear Lake, also playing varsity softball.
