Zach Hanson
Eden Prairie Boys Track and Field Head Coach
Zach Hanson serves as the Head Boys Track and Field Coach at Eden Prairie High School, a role he has held for the past four years as part of his 12-year tenure with the program. Prior to becoming head coach, Hanson contributed as an assistant, building a strong foundation within one of Minnesota’s most competitive track and field programs.
Under his leadership, Eden Prairie has continued to excel at a high level. The team has qualified for the True Team State Meet in two of his three seasons as head coach, an accomplishment Hanson values for its emphasis on full-team participation and collective success. His athletes have also achieved individual and relay success at the state level, including a 4x800 state championship and a Triple Jump state champion in his first year at the helm. Hanson was recognized as Section Coach of the Year in his inaugural season as head coach.
Coaching at a large school where approximately 10% of the student body participates in track and field, Hanson embraces the challenge of building a cohesive and competitive team from a wide range of athletes. His coaching philosophy centers on daily improvement, encouraging athletes to strive to get at least 1% better each day. He emphasizes resilience, accountability, and teamwork, aiming not only to develop high-performing athletes but also to instill lifelong skills that extend beyond high school.
Hanson finds the greatest reward in seeing athletes grow, achieve personal bests, and contribute to a positive team culture. More information about the Eden Prairie Track and Field program can be found at www.ephstrack.org.
