Girls Varsity Hockey Head Coach

Steve Persian is a dedicated and experienced hockey coach with a long-standing commitment to player development and team success. He currently serves as the head coach of the Eden Prairie Girls Hockey Varsity program, a role he has held for the past five years. Prior to that, he coached for seven years in Orono and three years at Breck School, where he led teams to back-to-back Minnesota State Class A Championships in 2019 and 2020.

A graduate of Wayzata High School, Steve continued his hockey career at St. John’s University, where he finished as the program’s all-time leading scorer at the time of his graduation. His competitive experience and deep understanding of the game continue to shape his coaching philosophy today.

Steve’s program is built on four core pillars: high standards, hard work, respect, and enjoyment of the game. He emphasizes excellence both on and off the ice, encouraging athletes to push beyond their comfort zones while maintaining integrity and sportsmanship. He is equally committed to fostering a positive and fun environment where players can grow, build lasting relationships, and develop a lifelong love of hockey.

Outside of coaching, Steve values family above all. He and his wife Kathy have been married for 37 years, and together they have two sons, Ben and Sam.
