MATT GABRIELSON

Girls Cross Country Head Coach

Gabrielson has been coaching since 2003 and is currently the Edina Varsity Girls Cross Country Head Coach (since 2011) and Boys Track and Field Head Coach (since 2019). A three-time Olympic Trials qualifier, he placed 8th in the 5000m in 2008 and has represented Team USA internationally. He has earned multiple coaching awards, including MSHSCA Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year and induction into the Minnesota Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame. His philosophy focuses on helping athletes balance key needs like freedom, fun, and belonging through lifelong sports. He and his wife Julie have three children attending Edina Public Schools, where Julie teaches elementary school.
