TONY PESZNEKER
Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach
Tony Peszneker’s lifelong connection to soccer began in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he was born and raised after his parents immigrated from Hungary during the 1956 Russian Revolution. A gifted multi-sport athlete, Tony excelled in both soccer and hockey before ultimately dedicating himself to soccer—a decision that would define more than three decades of his life in the sport.
Tony went on to play professionally for 15 years, representing several distinguished clubs including the Minnesota Kicks, Minnesota Thunder, Wichita Wings, Memphis Storm, Edmonton Eagles, and Edmonton Brickmen. During his tenure with the Minnesota Kicks, he became the highest-scoring North American player in the team’s history, netting five goals in the 1981 season—a standout achievement in the club’s legacy.
Beyond his professional playing career, Tony’s influence in soccer continued through coaching and mentoring, contributing to 8 State Championships, 7 State Runner-up finishes, and 7 State Third Place titles at various competitive levels. His philosophy—“Work your hardest, don’t cut corners, play like it’s the last time you will play a game of soccer”—reflects the determination and passion that have guided his approach to both playing and leading the sport.
Today, Tony’s name remains synonymous with dedication, discipline, and love for the game, representing the enduring spirit of a player who gave his all every time he stepped onto the field.
