Boys Cross Country Varsity Head Coach

Cayo is in his fifth year as head coach for boys cross country and fourth year for boys track and field at St. Michael-Albertville High School. A former STMA standout, he competed at South Dakota State University, earning three Summit League individual titles, six All-State honors, and contributing to four consecutive men’s cross country team championships. He holds multiple school records and was the 2017 Summit League Cross Country MVP and Athlete of the Year. His teams have won multiple section championships, including cross country in 2024 and track and field in 2023 and 2025, along with the Section 4AAA True Team title in 2025.

His coaching philosophy centers on teamwork, hard work, goal-setting, and developing confident, positive leaders, while encouraging athletes to enjoy competing and the process.
