Head Coach

Jeff Oseth serves as the Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach at St. Michael-Albertville (STMA), bringing over three decades of coaching experience across both high school and collegiate levels. Known for building competitive programs and fostering strong team culture, Oseth has quickly made a historic impact at STMA, achieving the most success of any boys basketball coach in the program’s 58-year history within his first three seasons.

Before joining STMA, Oseth compiled an extensive coaching résumé that includes 12 years as a head men’s basketball coach at the NCAA Division II level and 8 years as an assistant coach in the same division. His collegiate teams recorded notable victories over seven nationally ranked top-10 opponents. Prior to his collegiate head coaching career, he gained valuable experience at the high school level, coaching JV, 10th grade, and 9A teams.

As a player, Oseth earned numerous accolades. He was a three-time All-Conference selection in high school, Region 8 Most Valuable Player, and a Minnesota All-Star nominee during an era when only two teams were selected statewide. He continued his playing career at the University of Minnesota Crookston, where he was named MVP of the Northwest Tournament and earned two All-Division honors. He later accepted an athletic scholarship to Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he played two seasons, earning Most Dedicated Player honors twice and receiving the Leadership Award while helping lead the Dragons to a 19-win season, finishing just one win shy of the national tournament.

In addition to coaching, Oseth has experience in higher education, having taught for one year at the collegiate level.

Oseth emphasizes a simple but powerful philosophy: play hard and treat each other with respect. This approach has been central to his success in developing both strong teams and high-character athletes.

He lives with his wife, Jen, and their three stepchildren.
