Jeff Peterson

Maple Grove Baseball Head Coach

Jeff Peterson serves as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Maple Grove High School, where he also works as a Special Education teacher. With over 20 years of coaching experience, Peterson has built a reputation for developing fundamentally strong teams and fostering a competitive, disciplined culture.

Peterson’s coaching journey includes assistant varsity roles at Cooper High School (2005–2008), Elk River High School (2009–2011), Osseo High School (2013–2018), and Maple Grove High School (2019–2021) before taking over as head coach in 2022. Under his leadership, Maple Grove has earned significant success, including a Northwest Suburban Conference Championship, Section 5AAAA Championship, and a trip to the Minnesota State Tournament. He was also named Section 5AAAA Coach of the Year.

A former standout player, Peterson competed in varsity baseball at Park Center High School before continuing his career at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Some of his favorite baseball memories include playing in the Minnesota State High School Baseball Tournament and winning four conference championships at MSU-Mankato while participating in four regional tournaments.

Peterson’s coaching philosophy centers on simplicity and execution: teams that throw, field, and catch the ball well consistently find success. He emphasizes doing the little things right and maintaining a disciplined approach to the game.

Outside of baseball, Peterson enjoys spending time with his family, including his daughters, Madeline and Annabelle, and their yellow lab, Jax.
