Sami Cowger

Girls Varsity Hockey Head Coach

Sami Cowger is the head coach of the Edina High School girls varsity hockey team, where she has led the program for the past 10 seasons. A graduate of Edina in 2011, Cowger continued her playing career at Harvard University, where she was a standout athlete and served as team captain during her senior year before graduating in 2015.

Since returning to Edina, Cowger has built one of the most successful programs in the state. Under her leadership, the Hornets have captured five state championships in ten seasons. She has been named Section Coach of the Year three times and earned All-USA Head Coach of the Year honors in 2017. Cowger reached a major milestone last season, surpassing 250 career wins, and currently holds an impressive record of 253-33-9.

Cowger emphasizes developing confident, competitive, and team-first athletes. Her program is grounded in a culture of accountability, strong relationships, continuous growth, and a genuine love for the game.

She and her husband, Mitch, have a son, Crosby.
